It is rare that I honor a member of the Air Force. This is in no part due to their lack of bravery, but is in fact because Marines and soldiers are more often on the front lines, and therefore get the bulk of the news coverage. This week I am proud to honor Air Force Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt. I learned of this true, and heart-warming, story in an e-mail that I recently received, and I have posted the e-mail in it's entirety. A story such as this one goes to show that not all acts of heroism are performed on the battlefield. Please feel free to put it back into an e-mail and send it on, or send a link to this post. This is a story worth repeating.
John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing.
He is a real Star of the war, and represents what America is trying to do.
This, my friends, is worth sharing. Go for it!! You'll never see things like this in the news. Please keep this going. Nothing will happen if you don't, but the American public needs to see pictures like this and needs to realize that what we're doing over there is making a difference. Even if it is just one little girl at a time.

"Death to her enemies?" You KNOW that's not PC, RWE!!
I LIKE IT :-)
Z,
How is that not PC? Just because I intimated that America was a female, that is not a slur on woman. Just because it might offend some people does not mean it does not conform with the rigid and well defined bounds of Political Correctness.
No, you never do see anything like this in the mainstream media's news. Anything that reflects well on America seems"out of vogue" in, ironically enough, "America's news media."
GREAT post.
And yes, "Death to her enemies" is a valid viewpoint. Michael Scheuer (a former CIA operative and author of several books on America's war on terror) has often said, "The problem with our approach is that we're simply not killing enough of our enemies."
JMK,
Not only is it "out of vogue," it is anathema and poisonous to the world view of the leftists. Thank you for reading, and thank you for the Michael Scheuer quote. I will probably be using it as a post here today.
